Burning cards allows you to remove them from consideration. In this image, the Ace of Hearts is burned. Note that with only one available Ace, Four of a Kind is not possible.
The goal of RealPokerOdds™ is to present you with as much information as possible based on the known positions of certain cards. In some cases, you may find out that a card is not in the deck. This can occur from someone talking about their hand, someone accidently (or purposely) flipping their cards, or a mistake by the dealer. Whatever the reason, cards that are not in the deck should not be used when considering possible outcomes, and this is why RealPokerOdds™ allows you to burn cards.
You can even burn cards when running Simulations. For example, if you are curious how pocket Aces will do against three opponents when you know you won't get another Ace, simply burn both deck Aces before starting the simulation.

I've watched Omaha on TV, but wasn't able to truly grasp how the game was played until I used RealPokerOdds™ to see how hands come together.
