How does GameMirror™ work?

GameMirror™ works by continually scanning the known positions of all cards. Based on the game you are playing, RealPokerOdds™ knows where to look for your specific cards, as well as community cards or opponent's up cards.

GameMirror™ currently only supports 2-color cards (i.e. red and black, no green or blue). GameMirror™ has been tested using 32-bit color (True Color) for the following resolutions:

  • 1024x768
  • 1280x1024
  • 1600x1200

How do I set up GameMirror™?

Setting up GameMirror™ is a simple 3 step process.

Step 1: Select the Poker Software you are using.

Select the product name of the software you are using. For a list of supported games, click here. To request a game, send us an email at suggestions@realpokerodds.com.

Obviously, RealPokerOdds™ must be set to the correct game. For example, GameMirror&trade will not be able to scan a table with Omaha if it thinks you are playing Texas Hold'em. Use the Setup menu to make this Game Type selection.
Step 2: Drag the cursor to the actual window where your game is being played.

Just a simple drag-and-drop. When you move the cursor over a window that RealPokerOdds™ thinks might be a game, the frame will highlight.
Step 3: Release to Select.

As your mouse moves over the window, the title appears. Release the mouse, and RealPokerOdds™ does the rest.

What if I'm moved to a different seat?

If you are moved to a different seat, which is common in multiple table tournaments, simply press the Refind... button on the Main Toolbar. RealPokerOdds™ will start rescanning the table, looking for your cards.

Are there any special instructions for using GameMirror™?

Yes, there are two situations where GameMirror™ may require additional configuration.

The first is during the scanning period, when GameMirror™ is attempting to find your cards. If someone else's hole cards are revealed, let's say during an all-in or at the end of the hand, then GameMirror™ may find that player's cards instead. To avoid this, it is always best to activate GameMirror™ at the start of a betting round, when only your cards are visible. However, if GameMirror™ happens to find the wrong cards, simply press the Refind... button on the Main Toolbar when only your cards are visible.

The second case is extremely rare. In order to be of most use, GameMirror™ only moves cards when it finds a match on the table. What this means is that GameMirror™ will NOT remove cards when it sees a blank space. This has many benefits, including allowing you to see what you would have had, even after you folded. The only time GameMirror™ resets the deck is when it recognizes a new, different first hole card. What this means is that, in the off chance that you are dealt the first hole card in two consecutive hands, GameMirror™ will not reset the deck. Again, this can be easily fixed by pressing the Refind... button on the Main Toolbar.

How does GameMirror™? work with 7-Card Stud?

Incorporating 7-Card Stud with GameMirror™ was a difficult task, since there is so much information available. The RealPokerOdds™ team decided that the overwhelming design requirement was to require as little interaction as possible from the player once the hand starts, regardless of how many players are at the table. To accomplish this, GameMirror™ works in the following way with 7-Card Stud:

  • When playing 7-Card Stud, you MUST set the number of players to 8, regardless of how many players are actually at the table.
  • Your cards will appear in the first row (Player 1), regardless of where you are sitting.
  • The cards for other players will appear below you in RealPokerOdds™ based on where they are in conjunction with you at the table. In other words, the person sitting on your left will be Player 2, the next seat will be Player 3, and so on.
  • RealPokerOdds™ will recognize missing players only after the fourth card has been dealt. This is necessary to ensure that players are not folded prematurely, since some poker programs take longer to deal cards than others. Waiting until fourth street has no impact on the results RealPokerOdds™ provides.
  • Unlike Texas Hold'em and Omaha, it is possible for there to be combinations in the millions to analyze. Because of this, in most cases on Fourth Street RealPokerOdds will use sampling. If you are playing online, it is recommended that you choose a suitable sample size based on your processor speed and the type of game you are playing. While the default sample size is 10,000, something closer to 5,000 might be more appropriate.
  • In the rare cases when there are 8 players and no one folds, forcing a common last card, RealPokerOdds may not find the common card. To get complete statistics, you will have to enter the common card manually.
